Suzhou Public Bicycle
ABOUT SUZHOU PUBLIC BICYCLE
Launched in 2010, Suzhou's Public Bicycle Scheme is a basic public transport service funded by the government and the fourth largest mode of transportation after cars, buses and subways. The project aims to provide residents with green and environmentally-friendly short- distance transportation while promoting the concept of green and low-carbon living and create a traffic-free urban environment. Bike-sharing stations are mainly located in places with a huge flow of people, such as near the entrances and exits of living areas, bus stations and subway stations, intending to solve the "last kilometer" problem of residents.
Background
With the continuous growth of Suzhou and the promotion of internationalization, it is becoming more and more important to redefine the image of Suzhou public bicycle by making it younger and more international, increasing its popularity among young people and enriching its brand culture through unified visual language.
Suzhou, as a tourist city with a long history and beautiful scenery, attracts more and more foreign tourists every year, mainly Japanese tourists (According to the statistics in 2021, Suzhou is the city receiving the most Japanese tourists in China, and 200,000 Japanese people regard Suzhou as their second home). Suzhou Public Bicycle, as an environmental protection project, can effectively help improve Suzhou's image in the minds of foreign tourists. More importantly, Subike provides a slow Su-style life experience, which will become the most important part of Suzhou's public bicycle system and become the name card of Suzhou city. At the same time, how to attract foreign guests (a group of people with completely different living environment and cultural background from local residents) to use public bicycles, and better convey Suzhou culture has become the discussion of this project.
